[Unsure of what to say, Flynn remains quiet. There really is no doubt that this man is his father, but the means by which he got here are baffling. He still has mixed feelings about the man and isn't sure how to react. Most would be thrilled to have a lost parent back... but he is confused. He has no idea how to react.]

[That last part is mumbled as the man stares at his boots.]

There is no need to thank me. I'm simply following my duty as commandant; I want to help the people.

[As he stands to leave, he hears the apology and stops short of the door, his hand on the knob. He really doesn't know how to handle this situation at all.] ...What are you apologising for?

[Flynn freezes again, giving the door a blank look. Is it really fair to blame someone for something out of their control? It isn't as if he was looking for ways to die.]

You died. [quietly, almost confused] That's... not really your fault. You cannot be given blame for something you couldn't control. But... [turns, his eyebrows furrowed together] Why? Why... did you go against your orders and return to the lower quarter?

[It bothers him that a knight would go against his captain so easily, but he's done the same thing several times. Especially when it comes to his best friend...]

Disobeying orders to save someone...[He mumbles to himself and sighs. He's done the exact same thing to save Yuri's neck more times than he can count.]

When I was young... I was told that you died simply disobeying orders, nothing else. But then... [he pauses, thinking about what he learned in the knights; what Yuri had learned from their lost captain and told him.]

[Finas smiles lightly, slightly abashed.]

[He takes a deep breath, before looking up at his son, noticing his eyes are the same.]

Either way, I'm sorry... For everything. I cannot imagine... What it must've felt like...

What it felt like then doesn't matter, not given the circumstances currently. We cannot change the past, so being remorseful about it will only lead us to be unhappy thinking about "what could have been." All we can do now is live in the present... at least, that's what Yuri always pushed for me to remember.

[Flynn smiles faintly and glances at the door, then turns back to his father.] ...Can I get you anything?
