Name: Zagi
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Height: 6'0
Weight: 150

Likes: What do they like?
• Fighting. He was born into it, raised in it, and it has now become his very reason to live. Whether it be man or beast, there is no creature that can escape his blade. There isn't a time, that Zagi can remember, when he was not fighting. He'll take all opportunities to hurt someone, anyone - it doesn't matter what the reason is.
• Killing. The ultimate accomplishment in fighting, Zagi has never felt any guilt in taking a life. The victim's last breath is his own breath of life. The satisfaction in standing over his kill is barbaric, but Zagi feels nothing but pleasure in doing so. Though he does enjoy the thrill of fighting, a quick kill is a beloved pleasure.
• Hunting. There is no better satisfaction than consuming the beasts that you kill; it's the ultimate victory. He learned that it is better to eat than to be eaten. Zagi learned to be brutal by the surviving amongst monsters but has long since surpassed them in skill; still, the savage nature of stalking and hunting is still a favorite pastime.
• Blood. The taste of it, the look of it, everything. Sometimes, all Zagi can remember is blood - and it reminds him of who he is. Blood, mixed with his victim's shrill screams, is what he craves; as all are born in blood, it's his duty to ensure they end in the same way.
-----------------------------------------------
Dislikes: What are their pet peeves?
• Losing. Zagi's winning streak had been nearly flawless when someone broke it. He dislikes the word "losing," as it implies that he is weak; though far from caring what others may think, his main goal is survival amongst the dead and weakness has no room in his life.
• Life. Though not despising humanity in itself, Zagi does not agree with the way people live; it should be killed or be killed and nothing less. Fighting is a way to prove your right to live. His victims all deserved to die because they did not fight to live; they spend time on petty and meaningless things when it can all be taken away with one swipe of his blade.
• Authority. Zagi despises being told what to do, though he has been in various guilds and is often hired as a mercenary. If his lust for blood defers from his mission, it doesn't matter; satisfying that lust is above all. Though Zagi is certain he can kill anyone he wishes to, he does often follow orders as a mercenary to avoid becoming a lone criminal and having both the Imperial Army and the Union trying to kill him. Though he doesn't like to admit it, he knows that there is no way to survive such chances. As such, he tries to make alliances but it never really works out well.
• Groups. People often just get in Zagi's way and it's more often than not that he will just kill whoever does. This is the reason he often doesn't stay with one guild. People, for some strange reason, do not take very kindly to finding half of their henchmen killed by someone they had just hired earlier in the day. However, in Zagi's defense, they shouldn't be so stupid.
• Yuri Lowell. This bastard is Zagi's number one obsession as of late, taking over what little sanity he had left and driving his determination to kill to new levels. Most his new alliances, as the one with Leviathan's Claw, is driven by his determination to follow Yuri and get close to him. As the only one to ever make him shed blood, Zagi is determined to return the favor.
-----------------------------------------------
Strengths: What are they good at?
• Fighting, hunting, and killing. The art of violence is all that Zagi is aware of and as such, has become a legend at it. His expertise is wanted by many guilds but his insanity has only the most daring actually hire him. His unstable mind, combined with his outstanding skill, have many considering him a walking game of Russian Roulette. As he has no moral compass or care for life in general, the brutality he shows knows no limits. His core being is made up of violence and as such, Zagi's major skills lie within that realm.
• Sneaking. One cannot call himself a mercenary if they can't get to a target; though insane, Zagi has the animalistic skill of sneaking up on his "prey", though he's not exactly quiet when he reaches his target. In his earlier days, Zagi often just rushed into battle and killed; however, as his skills gained infamy and many wished to hire him for missions that required such savagery, he had to learn to sneak and stalk.
• Fear. Zagi's natural insanity has everyone that have the unfortunate event of meeting him tremble in fear. His complete lack of humanity, tact, and caring allow him to show no mercy and the few that manage to live are scarred by the madman. The remnants of families touched by his blade often live in complete fear of Zagi, especially with the knowledge that he often has no reason for killing beyond enjoyment. If someone is unfortunate enough to see Zagi with his blade drawn, it is often the last thing they see.
-----------------------------------------------
Weaknesses: What are they bad at?
• Thinking. Zagi's actions are purely driven by his savage nature; thus, he doesn't often think things through during a battle. Fighting is his first nature and his mind is second. Though his skill often makes up for this lapse in thought, he is often caught off guard. He was never taught strategy or anything of the sort, so he simply counts on his physical skill to get him through a fight. However, as he is slowly learning, this weakness is starting to disable him during battles.
• Arrogance. Zagi, until fighting Yuri, had never lost a battle or had even hurt badly during one. This cockiness has led him to believe that every battle is sure win, contributing to the weakness of not really thinking during a battle. Because he simply runs into a fight sure that blood will be on his blade soon, he doesn't see the potential consequences or troubles that may ensue.
• Being Humane. Having a complete disregard for human life may strengthen his brutality but does not allow him to have allies; everyone is an enemy, even those he has hired. He doesn't trust anyone and would turn on them in a second, granting him the curse of dishonesty. He does depend on being hired as a mercenary to ensure that he doesn't gather all the world's armies against him, but his disregard for comradeship and life certainly doesn't help with this idea.
-----------------------------------------------
Personality:
Cruel. Barbarous. Bloodthirsty. Merciless. Insane.
These words, and many more, have been whispered amongst the fearful residents of Terca Lumireis describing the dark spirit of Zagi, a mysterious mercenary whose blade has tasted more blood than any other. Zagi has no known allies, as even the guilds that hire him are weary and mistrustful of the man. But, there is one thing that everyone can agree on:
He's completely and utterly psychotic.
This one prevailing characteristic is Zagi's most obvious, as well as the most important. Zagi's mindset is unstable at best, though not in the sense that the man is unintelligent. No, he is very smart, though in a cunning way; throwing away academia and other "useless" things, Zagi's intelligence is that of the wild. He is driven completely by instinct, using the most basic of senses to achieve the ultimate goal of survival. As such, he has thrown away the human conspiracy of moral aptitude and etiquette. Killing and fighting are most crucial to surviving as such, Zagi has embraced the idea and considers it pivotal to he being.
Feeling is the biggest problem that "regular" humans posses, as it doesn't allow them to embrace the brutality that is needed to survive in the world. Zagi has forsaken all compassion which has allowed him to reach new heights in insanity, allowing him to kill without the smallest ounce of regret. No man, woman, or child can convince him away from this, allowing his darkness to become infamous.
However, Zagi's primitive instincts have conflicted with usual human nature, twisting his mind. What started out as contentment in killing to survive has morphed into the enjoyment of suffering. The power and control that goes hand-in-hand with taking someone's life has consumed Zagi, forcing him to see himself as nothing but a killer. He has allowed killing to become his very being, fighting for power and the fear of hundreds. He shows no shame in being the killing machine that he is and, in fact, takes pride in the title.
Zagi is essentially restless when not having anyone to specifically fight and will often simply hunt monsters to satiate the need to kill. Though they are not really a challenge, Zagi finds it difficult to sit in once place and simply do nothing; he has a nervous habit of twitching and making other small movements because of his eternal supplement of adrenaline. This is a problem when doing missions as a mercenary, as he often cannot just sit around and wait for his target - he much prefers to simply kill everyone in his way and then finally kill the targeted victim.
Because of his savagery, Zagi certainly cannot be around the normalcy of a regular human life. He has little control, only possessing just enough to sneak through a town to get to his intended target. However, not noticing him is difficult - his mannerisms of shaking and mumbling under his breath is more than enough to get the wrong kind of attention, not that he notices. The closest to "normal" human interaction he has taken a part of was in a late night bar that his victim was said to commonly visit - and, even then, violence and debauchery is rampant. Zagi simply does not know how to act in public and often tries to avoid being in such an environment.
If anyone has seen a compassionate side of Zagi, they must be dead, for his name is still tainted by whispers of evil and possession. Every body that falls at his feet is another severance to his mind, slowly deteriorating the small amount of sanity he has left. His obsession with Yuri Lowell seems to be testing the last bit of mind, allowing his heart to be filled with a fiery hate.
Insanity may simply be the brilliance of the barbarian.
-----------------------------------------------
History:
Zagi's insanity wouldn't make sense with a picture-perfect family living on hill in Halure, looking over a wondrous flower garden with a white picket fence.
So, as one can expect, it was far from that.
Though Zagi's parents are no longer living, which will be explored later, it is known that his father was a member of the low-level guild Bladed Truth. Despite it's name, this guild was infamous for their shady view of "justice" - in truth, it was a cover for cheap assassins who simply wanted a few gald. They were paid to enact "revenge" for their clientele and claimed to only do what was justifiable. However, they never did double-check or care if the information they were receiving was accurate or not; if the client had money, they would kill whomever.
Zagi's father was not unlike the rest; fairly good with a sword but a dishonorable man, roaming the dark streets of Dahngrest at night, floating from bar to bar. Naturally, this is where he met Zagi's mother, who was a "waitress" at one of these bars. Zagi was conceived during a loveless tryst and born in one of those lower-end hotels to an uninterested mother. Though the woman held hope that she would find love for the child when he was born, it never happened. So, she did what was most sensible - leave him at the doorstop of the Bladed Truth's place of operations, which was a fancy name for a shoddy house at the lower end of Downtown Dahngrest. She never looked back.
The father, not entirely stupid, figured the child was his from the look of him. Though it would have been simple to pick it up and take it to someone who would actually care for him, the father decided to sell the child to the head of the guild. Though the Union had unanimously decided against an idea that essentially involved "child soldiers," there were some darker people that simply didn't listen. Many were seduced by the idea of a child who grew up to only follow only their guild's rules, essentially building the perfect tool. They wanted the ultimate fighter who would launch their low-level guild to the top.
So, Zagi was chosen to be that child.
They didn't treat Zagi like a normal child; the few women in Bladed Truth took care of him as a baby but were forbidden to bond with him. As a toddler, they often left him to wander the streets of Dahngrest with minimal supervision, feeding him lies about the world around him to encourage his hate. While he was still to weak to fight, they could at least shove any ounce of humanity out of him. Zagi was aware of who his father was and, still a child, would often cry to him about the life they led. The father simply looked at him and told him that, to survive, he couldn't let feelings get in the way.
So Zagi stopped crying. He stopped wishing that his father would hold him, stopped hoping to find his mother, and simply stopped believing in caring about anything. It never got him anywhere and simply made him weak, allowing different Bladed Truth members to insult and attack him. They beat him often when they saw him faltering away from the strict line of beliefs, laughing at his cries. He was brought along during various missions and forced to watch death, touching the blood and hearing the last breath of the victim.
Zagi decided that humanity had too many weaknesses; the most important thing was to survive, to void himself of any petty morals that weaklings made up to guard their own inferiority.
He continued basic sword training and education in the artes as he grew older. One day, when he was twelve, they took him out into the forested area surrounding the town and left him there. It wasn't too sure how he lived and made it back in just a day, but they did mention it was the first time they ever saw Zagi smile. From then on, seeing the success, they decided he should continue his life in the wilderness to rid the last of his humanity and fear. They told him that to fully raise above humanity's faults, he had to learn from the most brutal of monsters. Humans spent years trying to build strong barriers to keep these beasts out but Zagi wouldn't take that coward's way out; he would become them and, combined with the deadliness of a blade and his own will, would raise above them.
Exposure to dangerous amount of aer and other environmental extremities drastically changed his personality; he grew from a bitter young boy to a fiercely brutal man, yet still kept some of the sense he had gained from his time in Dahngrest. His appearance also changed; his hair became wild and changed colors with the drastic usage of artes, some which he inflicted upon himself to learn to withstand such power. Truth came to check on him once in a while and some did train him with a sword, though Zagi decided that the bloodshed wasn't enough with one. Eventually, he killed one of the members that came to him and took their weapon, training himself with both blades.
When news of this death reached the rest of Bladed Truth, they immediately decided that Zagi was getting too out of control by spending time with monsters and being devoid of regular human contact. The guild sent out some mercenaries to come and retrieve him, but Zagi's mind had already begun faltering. Still on an adrenaline high from killing the earlier man, Zagi finally snapped and attacked them all. Though there were a few casualties, he was apprehended and snuck back through the night.
However, it was too late. Zagi's bloodlust had already grown too much and he had decided that the teachings of survival surpassed any "guild" rules. He broke free with a sudden burst of his mystic arte and proceeded to attack the guild; many fought and fell while others ran in fear.
Zagi ensured that his father did not make it out.
The news of Bladed Truth's overnight downfall spread quickly throughout Dahngrest, though none cared too much; as mentioned, Bladed Truth dealt in illegal operations and many were calling for their disbandment, anyway. Zagi continued to wander and lose more of his sanity, bathing in blood by participating it fights and wars that didn't really matter to him - he just enjoyed fighting.
Eventually, his skills gained him infamy and word of his insanity were only rumors. Guilds were curious about this rogue who fought for no one and nothing; some were weary while others craved his bloodlust for their own gain. Sensing that people were becoming much too aware of him, Zagi decided to become a mercenary to ensure that he did not draw too many enemies from his escapades. Though confidant in his skill, he wasn't stupid enough to have everyone in the world hunting for him.
His first few ventures working for others didn't end too well; he wasn't used to being told what to do and often killed his superiors and comrades. Those who knew tended to keep quiet out of fear or were simply killed themselves when they spoke of it; also, Zagi's efficiency in getting the job done was flawless, even if it did mean the death of a "grunt" or two. While he was kicked out of many guilds, more simply grew desperate for a man of his skill and continued to hire him.
He was eventually scouted by Leviathan's Claw, a guild involved in the dealing and selling of weaponry, despite the "rumors" of his extreme brutality. Zagi is often seen with the Red Eyes, the mercenary section of the guild; though he doesn't work well with people and has often killed the others in anger, no one has done anything beyond scold him for it. Though Zagi isn't often aware of the true motives behind Leviathan's Claw, he is often more than willing to do all of their dirty work, which is why he has chosen to stay. By aligning himself with these people, he has ensured that he isn't just some rogue that the Union and the Empire can work together to kill. Now, they can just blame Leviathan's Claw and Zagi can continue to bathe in blood.
However, his simple mission of listening to the guild's leader, Yeager, is heavily impeded when he is defeated by Yuri Lowell. Zagi had not been touched by so much as a scratch ever since he was a child; however, this Yuri had caused him to bleed and retreat, something Zagi had never experienced. This travesty led one of the few remaining strings in his head to snap and has became mercilessly obsessed with Yuri, determined to defeat the weakness that he experienced by bringing about the man's death.
With the savagery of a beast and an endless supply of delirium, Zagi continues to wander Tecra Lumireis, blade and bloodthirst in hand.
