It's a fine day in Port Torim, the sun is shining and the sea breeze is nice and cool. People are going about their business, aside from the few tourists and visitors.
One of these people is the tall form of one Lord Alvin Reyne. He stands, leant against the railings, the wind blowing and rippling his silver cloak, with the sigil of his house; a rampant red lion. The man has his eyes closed, taking a deep breath of the sea air.

The Port was lively as usual and the day was more beautiful then the last. Cedric grasped at his hood with his left hand when the sea breeze blew past, trying to conceal his neck as best he could. His right hand held a shopping list.
I hope I can find those new spices. . .
He lowered his head and turned at the heel when another breeze blew in, grabbing at his list and fluttering away with it.
A-ah!!
His hand flew up trying to grab it to no avail. The breeze carries the list down the market, zig zagging past busy bodies, mercenaries and knights. Finally the list came to a rest at the foot of a tall gentleman, leaning idly enjoying the breeze.

Something flutters against Alvin's boot, causing the man to look down. It was a peice of paper. He perks an eyebrow, moving to step onto the paper to stop it blowing again. He reaches down to pick it up. "Huh..What's this?"

S-Sir Knight!
Cedric weaves past a crowd of people, saying 'excuse me' and 'pardon me' every time he bumps into someone in his haste. After emerging from the crowd, Cedric promptly fixes his hood and flattens out his shirt. Gazing up at the knight then giving a bow, he finally starts to catch his breath.
I'm sorry sir, it seems the wind took my list from me. . .
There was a slight pitch change in his voice, but it levels off when he starts to control his breathing.

Alvin smiles slightly, bowing in return. "Don't worry about it." His voice is quite well-taught, as one from the noble classes. His clothes obviously being well-made.
Alvin glances down at the list, handing it back, before smiling. "Lord Alvin Reyne. And you?" He says, by way of introduction.

Cedric held out his hand and took the list with a shy smile. He scratched the back of his hood embarrassed.
My name is Cedric Westlen. . .nothing as fancy as the title of"Lord" but I run a tavern with my father in Dahngrest. I'd like to return the favor for grabbing my list before it met an illegible end.
Cedric folded the list up neatly and placed it in his pocket. He sighs and places a hand on his blastia as he finally calms down completely.

Alvin eyes the blastia, still smiling lightly. "Ah, no thanks is necessary." the lord says, "It was mere luck it blew against my boot is all."
He looks out towards Dahngrest. "You say you came from Dahngrest? Do you have an escort?"

His ears perked up when he heard the question.
An escort? No I don't. I manage to make it by myself on a rare occasion or I tag along with some of the mercenary groups that travel through. . .
There was a pause as Cedric plowed through his thoughts. His head rested in his hand as he thought. Suddenly the wind blew again, his hood falling back.
Ah. . .
He quickly pulls his hood back on hastily after feeling exposed. Cedric briefly hides his face.
W-were you thinking of escorting me, sir?
Quickly he changes his mood by giving a sly smile as he looks up at the Knight.

Alvin gives the young man a slight raise of one eyebrow. "If you wish me to." He says, "After all, I could not leave anyone to suffer the monsters."
After a second he glances out at the ocean. "I might not be well received into Dahngrest, however."

Cedric gives a slightly laugh, his voice sounding more synthetic then when he talks.
I do not believe the monsters will be that much of a problem since I stock up on repellents before I always leave. . .
Cedric blinks in confusion though when he hears Alvin not being "well received in Daghngrest"
Did you do something to anger some of the people there? Not that it isn't entirely uncommon for the knights to throw their weight around . . .
Cedric trails off a little, his voice getting softer.
Ah, not that you would be on to throw your weight around, but you most likely understand the knights and the guilds relationship.
Cedric gave a sad smile at his own remark.

"I'm not a knight." Alvin comments. "Nor would I join them."
He smiles a tad sadly. "But I am a noble in the Empire. My house has a seat at Halure, and I am a member of the Council."
"You can understand why I am a tad wary."

T-t-the Council. . .
Cedric gave a weary look away. How did he manage to bump into someone who could axe his ass in a single breath of air. He silently weeped at himself for the personal comic relief then turned back to Alvin.
I'm sure you can hold your own if they try anything. And besides that if you manage to survive your way to my tavern I can make sure people leave you alone.
Cedric adjusted his blastia slightly.
Ah one second.
He put both his hands behind his neck to readjust the strap. He felt like he was being choked.

Alvin smiles a tad sadly. "Do you see what I mean?" He sighs. "Once people know that I am a councilmember in the Empire, they see me in a different light."
He rubs his bearded chin, the wind blowing his cloak and revealing a rather large, wooden handled axe strapped to his back. "Maybe I should stop telling people..."

Cedric lets out another synthetic sounding laugh.
I don't think people should be so easily diverted from something like you being on the Council. Sure you have a lot of power, but that shouldn't really stop you from having a civil conversation with someone.
Gazing off at the sea turns Cedric's expression to something more melancholic and peaceful.
Its all based on people's judgment. Basing previous experiences before even learning about the person. . .
His voice phases between two pitches of high and low then synthetic and genuine. He crosses his arms in a huff.
People are just stupid. You seem like a nice person regardless of the title.

"My thanks. It's nice to see someone who does not judge by title." He smiles, genuinely, before frowning.
"Your voice...It's regulated by the blastia, is it not?"
He makes a very educated guess.
