ITT, I am late and fail the Like/Dislike sections forever.
Name: Alexei Denoia
Gender: Male
Age: 40-50
Height: ...6'1"?
Weight: Heavier than you
Appearance:
Likes: Loyalty, power, combat, research, cunning.
Dislikes: People who get in his way, injustice, greed, overuse of blastia, stubborn people, YOU.
Strengths:
Swordplay - Alexei is a soldier. A soldier. He uses what is apparently a false Dein Nomos as his weapon, and he uses it very well.
Endurance - This guy is a tank. You see all that armor? He can take quite the beating before going down.
Strength - Old he may be, but weak he is not. That sword isn't exactly a rapier, and he swings it with relative ease.
Charisma - Everyone loves Alexei, and he knows how to keep that reputation intact. It doesn't even really take any acting: it just comes naturally to him.
Cunning - Alexei is very much a smart individual, between bringing the Empire through the war and plotting throughout the entire game-- with no one the wiser, at that.
Weaknesses:
Mobility - Alexei is certainly no sloth, but he is getting a little old and wears plenty of armor. There's also the immobility his Mystic Arte leaves him with.
Distrust - There are very few people Alexei trusts, and everyone he meets is put under automatic suspicion.
Misuse of Trust - Good lord. Alexei has spent so much time being the consummate leader that no one believes he can do wrong, which makes him one of the most dangerous enemies one can have: an enemy with a massive following.
Apathy - Alexei doesn't care. No, really. He does not care if Estelle is scarred forever, he does not care if the party dies, he does not care if he takes the lives of the people he's allegedly defending. He's trying to save the world, goshdarnit, and he does not care what YOU have to go through for that to happen.
Eventual Insanity - Alexei all but loses it once Zaude rises. This ties into all of the above traits and amplifies them so even his supporters can't ignore it.
Personality: Commandant Alexei is the consummate soldier. He is respectful, dignified, calm, friendly, properly distant and authoritative, and well-deserving of the trust his men place in him. He has worked hard to achieve the rank he holds now, and works hard to maintain it as well. He obviously trains often, as his skills are rumored to be unsurpassed and there is not a single man in the army who would speak to him disrespectfully. They would not do so in any case, for they respect and like him, and he judges with an even hand.
This is the Alexei that the world knows. He has spent years trying to change the world for the better.
Across those years, however, Alexei does not so much change his personality as he does his thinking. Nowadays, Alexei believes that people will only do what is good for them if forced to, and to that end he has been using his well-earned influence to slowly shift circumstances in his favor so he can wring the change he desires. He is crafty and cunning, and knows how to use and keep the trust he has earned from others, turning the entire Guard into his own personal force. His men refuse to believe ill of him: when his actions become openly volatile and harmful, they only argue that he does what he believes is best. Alexei remains manipulative and disregarding of the suffering he deems necessary, and is almost fanatical in his pursuit of his desired goal.
It reaches the point where Alexei betrays everyone: the Knights, the Empire, and all the citizens who put their trust in him. At this point he simply does not care what anyone thinks or wants: his way is the way, and that's all there is to it. He completely drops what has become the facade of the charismatic Commandant.
History: Alexei joined the army as a young man with the same ideals everyone has: become stronger, earn respect, change the world. As time went on Alexei managed two of these goals: his ideals won him the support of his peers and the citizenry, and he was eventually promoted to the position of Commandant. With the influence and trust he was accorded, Alexei learned of the Children of the Full Moon and Blastia's effect on the world.
Though he searched vigorously for a way to change the world for the better, his efforts proved fruitless. As time wore on, Alexei saw more and more of the nature of people and the world, becoming more and more obsessed with his vision until finally he decided that the only way to achieve his goals was by threat of force.
Alexei used his influence to slowly inch his way to success, researching the ancient 'weapon' used by the Children of the Full Moon and ordering the construction of blastia to be used to obtain the apathea he would need to activate it. Because the entire world trusted him, none of his actions were met with any suspicion-- though he did hide certain orders and only kept Khroma in full confidence. He discreetly turns the Imperial Guard into his own personal force and replaced the hearts of fallen soldiers in the Great War with blastia, forcing them to work for him afterwards.
Alexei's plans come to fruition as he finds he can use apathea and Estelle's powers as a replacement for Dein Nomos, activating the Enduring Shrine of Zaude at last. He finds, however, that it is not a weapon he can use to bully the world into accepting the change he wishes upon it; instead, it is a barrier that keeps out the Adephagos that threatens the world. Disillusioned and defeated, Alexei allows the giant emerald atop Zaude to crush him under its weight, ending his life.
Did you read the rules? We've been over this. My Pow Hammer is still manlier than yours.
