- Raven can be rather flirtatious and perverted. While he never actually let this get very far, the people around him are often not amused.
- Sometimes, Raven may be a little too relaxed and easygoing. He's prone to joking around, even during serious situations.
- Raven struggles with himself, constantly wondering if what he does is right. In a life as complicated as his, there are times where he is forced to choose between things important to him, and sometimes he chooses the options that seems wrong to others.
- Raven is loyal and has a strong sense of morals. For him though, this became something that ruined his life.
Personality:
Raven on first sight is rather laid back and seems to have not a worry in the world. He jokes and he flirts and seems to throw caution to the winds. He can be teasing and annoying and dodges any questions you throw at him with ease. You can't trust him- he throws truth and lies around seemingly without a thought.
But then you get to know him, and you find that though he still acts as if he had not a care in the world, there's something different that you did not see at first. He's kind and compassionate, understanding the emotional pains of others, having gone through most of them himself. He tries to hide this, and sometimes, very effectively, but when he thinks you're not around and within earshot, he'll let down his guard. He values his friends highly, especially the Brave Vesperia Party. Amongst the group of orphans he has became the fatherly figure, especially to the youngest one, Karol.
When you finally break through to him, you'll see that inside he feels like a broken man. He feels that his life belongs to someone else, and that no matter what he does he can not do right. He speaks hidden words of wisdom to others, hoping that they would avoid the mistakes he made. He does his best to keep his burden to himself though.
Despite all this, Raven makes friends easily. Although sometimes he isn't to be completely trusted, he's there to brighten your day and make things seem better than they are. Despite his seeming shadiness, he holds himself to a strict code of honour and conduct, with the lines he draw in places you wouldn't expect.
History:
Though he would never admit to it even if you hounded him as best you could, Raven was born as a noble by the name of Damuron Atomais. The second son of Spardo Atomais, he was the typical noble runt: Selfish, Self centered, and of course, stuck up. His time was more occupied with women than anything else, frequenting bars and not returning home until the wee hours of the morning. Ashamed at his son's behavior, Spardo enlisted Damuron into the knights so the he could no longer sully the Atomais name.
At first, his time in the knights was much the same as it was when he was at home. He frequented bars and hit on the local women, used his reputation in the knights for his own "fun" and was very much the stereotypical noble brat. It wasn't until his fateful encounter with Canary, she had pinned him to a wall effortlessly with arrows, and their meeting one month later, that something seemed to stir within him. He didn't notice it, but the seeds of change had been planted within him, and it would be this woman that would allow those seeds to grow more and more, until he became exactly what she had been hoping to become: a true knight.
He returns to the scene of their previous conversation, a house in the lower quarter where he had seen her practicing with her strange weapon, a bow that could become a sword at any time. However, each time he returns, she is not there, an he soon learns of the reason, she had left with a military transport. The knights expect her to return in a few days, but begin to worry when she runs late. A force is sent into the Quoi woods to check on the missing troops. The group is composed of ten knights from the nobility, and the leader is not keen on risking his life over whatever Canary's group is transporting. He informs his men that if monsters attack, they should use the fruits from the trees as bait to lure the monsters toward the transport and away from them. Damuron does not like this idea, and once the plan is put into action and no one is left to help Canary, he himself stays behind to help her.
They barely escape with their lives. A small force of archers just like her arrive jut in time to save them. They collected the dead monsters, handing them out to the citizens of the lower quarter. Canary questions his reason for helping her, but Damuron could not giver her one. So, she provided one for him: He was a True Knight. Lost in thought, he didn't realize that the people of the lower quarter were thanking him to, mistaking him for being part of the brigade. It was the first time he had been thanked for anything of the sort. It was foreign to him, but he felt happy. He soon joins Canary's brigade, but not long after, the Great War began.
Out of one thousand men and women deployed to Temza, there were no survivors. At least, that's what Ol' Raven would tell you. Yes, he too had died. It was, in a word, a slaughter. Their blastia barely had any effect on the monsters they fought, and they fought with everything they had. Duke had warned them to turn back, but Canary told him they had no intention of doing so. He left them, after apologizing. Soon after, he met Hermes, a Krityan male who was doing research on Blastia. He was a kind man, who risked his life to allow the remaining soldiers to escape.
The plan to retreat was to fall back to the ships on the beach, if they could make it, they could live to fight another day. However, there were no ships, and only two soldiers were left: Damuron and Canary. They fought as best they could, but soon those two were reduced to one dying man with flowers blooming from his heart.
Two weeks passed, and Damuron woke up. He was confused. He was supposed to have been dead. He soon found out the atrocity that was keeping him alive, a Blastia that took place of his heart. Alexei told him the he was the only one he could save, but in truth there was another; Yeager. Unaware of this however, He was later renamed after stating to Alexei, "Damuron Atomais is dead, Commandant."
He and the Commandant argued and spoke for a while, but soon, the dead man was convinced. Several days later, some documents arrive that only he mat read. In it is described a life that is not his, one made up specifically for him. Alexei had given him a chance to live a new life as Schwann Oltorain. And the rest, as they say, is history.
